Cardiovascular Disease - Clinical Studies

Overview

Cytori is sponsoring two European clinical trials for cardiovascular disease. One trial is for chronic myocardial ischemia, a severe form of coronary artery disease, and the other is for the treatment of heart attack patients.

Chronic Myocardial Ischemia

Cytori's PRECISE trial is a 36-patient safety and feasibility study in Europe evaluating adipose-derived stem and regenerative cells as a treatment for chronic ischemia. The patients' own adipose-derived stem and regenerative cells are processed using Cytori's Celution™ System EU, and then injected around the injured oxygen-deprived areas of their hearts through a catheter. The patients will be followed for six months before evaluation. The study will take place in Spain.

Heart Attack

Cytori's APOLLO trial is a 48 patient safety and feasibility study in Europe to evaluate adipose-derived regenerative cells as a treatment for heart attacks. The patients' own adipose-derived regenerative cells are processed using Cytori's Celution™ System EU and injected into their coronary artery. The patients will be followed for six months before evaluation. The study is being conducted at Thoraxcenter, Erasmus Medical Center Hospital in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Hospital Universitario Gregorio Marañón in Madrid, Spain.
